Spring Portlets
The Spring Portlet MVC framework is one of the major new additions to the Spring Framework's web stack.
In a nutshell, the Spring Portlet MVC framework brings all of the proven benefits of the (servlet-based) Spring MVC framework to JSR-168 Portlet development. Architects and developers who are already familiar with Spring MVC's architecture and idioms will find themselves instantly at home with the Spring Portlet MVC framework, because the Spring developers have taken it upon themselves to mirror a lot of the Spring MVC functionality. Many of Spring MVC's interfaces and classes have similar counterparts in the Spring Portlet MVC framework. The Spring Portlet MVC framework also uses the powerful Spring IoC container to configure its constituent components in a consistent manner that will be immediately familiar to experienced Spring users and refreshingly intuitive to new Spring users.
In this presentation, Mark and Rick will enumerate the value add that Spring Portlet MVC can bring to your enterprise portlet applications. The presentation will touch base with the following areas of enterprise portlet development: architecture, development, configuration, and deployment. The presentation will also include a complete walkthrough of a sample portlet application developed using the Spring Portlet MVC framework, which will highlight a number of the framework's compelling features and best practices for successful development.
If you are an architect or developer who is already using (or plans to use) portlets to deliver highly customisable, personalised portal applications to your enterprise, then this presentation will give you the necessary information to become productive using the Spring Portlet MVC framework.
