Lead Architect at European Patent Office, Roland has been active in the Java Enterprise scene since 1999 and has primarily devoted himself to delivering performance critical and scalable applications based on Java enterprise standards.

He has successfully architected and implemented real-time-trading systems in the finance industry and is frequently consulted by international clients in these matters.

Roland is currently responsible for the architecture and application management of the esp@cenet ® patent portal at the European Patent Office http://www.espacenet.com, a distributed, multilingual application infrastructure which has peaks of 1 million requests per hour, transferring over 100GB of data per day to its users.
