Interoperability with Spring and Spring.NET

Achieving interoperability between enterprise systems developed in Java on servers and remote Windows desktops running rich .NET clients is a common scenario for many corporations. Implementing this interoperability in a manner that is both performant, scaleable, and developer-friendly is not trivial. Web services is one way to achieve such interop, but it comes with a huge amount of baggage that makes web services less than suitable for highly concurrent systems.

In this session, Aleks Seovic and Rick Evans will present the case for using Spring and Spring.NET to achieve (as close as is possible) transparent interoperability between Java and .NET (specifically in the context of rich .NET Windows desktop applications and Java server backends). The various tradeoffs between achieving performant, scaleable interop, and making friendly the development experience of the developers tasked with implementing such interop will also be covered.

The session will include a number of examples that will demonstrate why the combination of Spring and Spring .NET with regard to Java/.NET interop is so compelling.
