Dr Andy Piper has worked in Information Technology for over 15 years, from application development to consultancy. He holds a degree in engineering and a Ph.D. in computer science from Cambridge University, England. His background in distributed systems made for a natural gravitation towards BEA Systems Inc. where he has held various roles in WebLogic Server engineering including RMI-IIOP architect and overall core server architect. Andy now works as architect in the WebLogic Server open source group looking at technologies from Spring to Tomcat. Andy represents BEA in many standards groups and has presented at several international conferences including Object Expo '98 in London, England, Object Technology '96 in Oxford, England, various BEAWorld conferences and JavaOne 2005.
